Transition\u2019s topic this half term has been \u2018People Who Help Us\u2019. The children have been learning about a variety of occupations, and talking about what they would like to be when they grow up. The children have particularly enjoyed playing in our \u2018Fire Station\u2019 role play area, and dressing up as police officers, doctors and builders. They have been exploring colour mixing on a large scale, using brightly coloured paints and toy vehicles. In Maths, they have been using positional language to find (and rescue) various \u2018Fireman Sam\u2019 characters in the outdoor area. The children also used their developing phonic knowledge to label a picture of a fire fighter independently. The children have also been looking at road safety, and role-playing various road safety scenarios with the bikes and scooters. As part of our \u2018Doctors and Nurses Week\u2019 we discussed the importance of keeping healthy through diet, exercise and good hygiene.<\/p>\n
We would all like to say a big thank you to the parents for getting our new topic off to a great start by supporting the children with their half term holiday homework. The children were so excited to share their junk model \u2018emergency vehicles\u2019 in class, generating much discussion and encouraging the children to describe different functions and features.
