In Art Club she chose the theme of portraiture again but this time with a realistic approach. Her portrait is carefully painted with delicate lines and subtle tones. The hair is enhanced with imaginative and colourful pattern inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt.

Her sister, Anika, chose the theme of a peacock for her painting. She used a light style of paint application alongside a dry brush technique which enhanced the soft textures of the feathers . She too enjoyed an imaginative use of pattern and her use of pastel blends gave a light almost dream like quality to her final piece.

Krishna also tackled a bird theme although chose the bolder features of a toucan. His blocked in colours and lush green foliage was enhanced by his dramatic use of tone. His final piece is impressive with its dynamic composition and strong tonal contrasts.

In Year 3, Yandy chose to paint a variety of birds, some in flight and others stationary on a branch. I was especially impressed with her understanding of shadows and hues – her ability to mix different sort of green paint for the birds and the foreground grasses added to the complex and detailed visual interest in the painting.

Ashleigh very much enjoyed exploring her chosen theme which was koala bears. She drew out the composition carefully and excelled at using a dry brush technique which helped her bears look so furry.

Well done to you all in Art Club. It is always a pleasure to teach such enthusiastic and truly talented individuals!

Mrs Stone
Art and Design Technology Teacher

Krishna with his work

Art Club in action

Saanvi’s Painting

Anika

Ashleigh

Yandy

Some beautiful watercolour paintings have been completed in Art Club by a small group of particularly talented artists.
