Welcome back to the Forest School Blog…
Can you believe it is nearly winter?!
Last week at Norfolk Road the children were helping me to dig up the garden bed in preparation for winter. We have some spring bulbs we would like to sow next week. The children continued with role play they have developed in the dark wooded area of the Forest School area, pretending to look for monsters with the torch. This week we also showed the children how to collect water from the water butt and continued to build our new willow den. Some of the children had the opportunity to go for a walk around the block and marvelled at the final autumnal treasures around them before winter approaches.
At Harborne Road the children had lots of fun this week developing their climbing and balancing skills with the logs, tyres and beams. We had more role play in the mud kitchen, on the menu this week was dinosaur pasta! The children continued to enjoy playing with their fishing rods that they made a couple weeks ago. There was plenty to marvel at with the arrival of the new gazebo and we are slowly decorating the inside of their playhouse.
At Oxford Road, similar to Norfolk road, the children were really interested in horticultural activities e.g. digging in the garden bed, looking for insects and playing with the swede and pumpkins we had. The preschoolers had the opportunity to plant some spring bulbs in one of the hanging baskets and we discussed how they will appear next year.
Another gentle reminder … to please remember to bring spare clothes for your little one/s (especially on Forest School days), wellies and wetsuits, to ensure that your child can make the most of waterplay and wet weather!
