Forest Schools

Forest Schools

Every Wednesday (afternoon) and Thursday (full day) at Harborne Road

My name is Paige and I am the Forest Lead at all Norfolk House Nursery sites. I have a background in the arts and creative sector, having initially trained in performing arts and worked as a producer in the field; I was involved in local arts festivals and community projects involving young people and families.

I soon began to merge my creative passions with my interests and love for the outdoors/nature, leading me to embark on my Forest School journey some couple years ago. Over the course of the past three years, I have facilitated and instructed children and young people, with additional needs and social emotional mental health (SEMH) challenges, in Forest School and Horticultural/Gardening.

I will be leading and facilitating memorable and nurturing Forest School experiences. I will explore the children’s’ existing interests and schemas to support them in their overall development whilst also aiming to target specific needs and areas of development.

As an extension of the children’s existing experiences at Norfolk House Nursery, the Forest School sessions I will be leading will primarily focus on and prioritise:

– Creating safe spaces (emotionally, spiritually and physically);
– Healthy risk-taking;
– Fun and creative learning through play, exploration and discovery;
– Nurturing each child’s confidence and self-esteem

Thank you for your kindness, caring and supportive attitude during our daughters time with you. We have loved knowing that our daughter has gone to such a lovely happy nursery. Thank you all.
