Welcome back to the Forest School Blog…

Last week at Oxford Road we had tons of fun on our trips to Moseley Park. We did mark making in the snow, fed the geese and ducks, marvelled over the lake, climbed trees, made a mud slide down the hill and went fungi spotting.

At Norfolk Road the children were looking for winter treasures some of which were frost and ice which they smashed with sticks. They also enjoyed a good run around. Some of the children used sticks and the wheelbarrow to clean and sweep up leaves. We also looked at some pinecones found in the garden which the children enjoyed smelling and looking at. Some of the children said it reminded them of a strawberry and a beetroot.

At Harborne Road we took a trip to Canon Hill Park on a very icy frosty day. The preschoolers had the opportunity to see a very rare sight, which was ducks sliding on the frozen pond towards them as they fed them mixed seeds (sourced from PeckaMix). There was plenty stomping on frozen puddles, cracking the ice and tree climbing. Before returning back to the nursery they had a treat of warm cocoa and a biscuit.

Another gentle reminder … The weather has been significantly cold and temperatures are dropping very low, it is imperative that all children have waterproofs, coats, gloves and hats, especially on Forest School days to ensure that they are safe and can enjoy their sessions outdoors.

Oxford Road: mark making, feeding the ducks, tree climbing, mudslide and  jumping in muddy puddles.

Norfolk Road: exploring ice, looking at pine cones and using garden tools.

Harborne Road: stomping on frozen puddles, identifying trees and plants, feeding the ducks and tree climbing.
