Welcome back to the Forest School Blog…
Last week at Norfolk Road, the children had the opportunity to plant spring bulbs in the front garden outside their window. They planted an assortment of Hyacinth, Crocus, Daffodil and Tulip bulbs. They learnt about the importance of wearing gloves to protect their hands and were introduced to tools including rakes, trowels and spades. They are looking forward to seeing their colourful array of spring flowers grow next year! The toddlers had a wonderful morning trip to Warley Woods on Wednesday. Lot’s of climbing and balancing on fallen trunks, logs and stumps, they spotted mushrooms, colourful autumnal leaves and even got to see a red tractor on their walk back to the bus stop!
At Oxford Road, some of the preschool children went on a trip to Cannon Hill Park where they marvelled at the ducks and squirrels, see-sawed on a gigantic horse chestnut tree branch, and got stuck in a big muddy bog!
At Harborne Road toddlers and preschoolers had the opportunity to have plenty of sensory play with lots of mini squash and pumpkins. We made a pumpkin bird feeder, they enjoyed fishing them out of a barrel of water with their nets and lots of role play in the mud kitchen. The preschoolers were learning about space this week and so they had the opportunity to see how I had made a star out of string and branches. They also enjoyed listening to story books being red to them.
Another gentle reminder … to please remember to bring spare clothes for your little one/s (especially on Forest School days), wellies and wetsuits, to ensure that your child can make the most of waterplay and wet weather!
