Once again Norfolk House Nursery was confirmed as one of the leading providers of early years education in Birmingham when its two settings in Edgbaston were inspected by Ofsted at the end of 2016.  The Norfolk Road setting was rated “Outstanding” overall and in each of the four key judgement areas.  The inspector recognised the inspirational, enthusiastic and committed leadership at the nursery and described the care and learning on offer as being of the highest quality.  The Harborne Road setting, which was undergoing its first official inspection since opening, was rated “Good”.  The inspector praised the high expectations which leaders have of staff who, in turn, share the leaders’ ambition for success.

Norfolk House Nursery prides itself upon providing children with the fullest possible opportunity to learn, develop and prepare for their school careers.  Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager, commented, “I am delighted that Ofsted has recognised the dedication and hard work of all my staff and the results which they achieve.  We believe that children thrive when they are safe, happy and well cared for. Everything we do is based upon that solid foundation.  We then strive to make the learning experience as stimulating and varied as possible, tapping into the particular interests of each child and meeting their individual needs.”

However, the nursery has no intention sitting on its laurels.  It is always looking for ways to improve its offering.  For example, it is currently in the process of implementing the innovative Forest School outdoor learning programme which introduces children to the great outdoors and enables them to develop a range of transferable skills in a fun and engaging environment.

As Ms Fox points out, “Because children are constantly developing, every day at the nursery presents a fresh set of challenges.  We meet them with relish, always conscious of the great privilege of having been chosen to guide a child’s first steps on their life-long journey of learning.”
