Hello Parents & Carers,

Welcome back to the Forest School Blog…

Last week I took annual leave (Monday – Thursday) so I am looking forward to returning back this week.

Upon my return last Friday we took the toddlers at Oxford Road outside in the garden to play with the snow and ice. They had the opportunity to dig and transfer snow with their buckets, trowels and other resources. They also had the opportunity to have a go at smashing and picking at pieces of ice using a hammer. We taught them how to keep themselves safe by putting a glove on their supporting hand, wearing goggles and standing back when it wasn’t their turn. One-by-one they had a go at breaking up the ice sheets. We saw lots of great hand-eye coordination and they were very excited to be using a tool.

Another activity we participated in was den building (indoors) with sticks and small branches. We used their animal teddies and pretended that they were getting ready to hibernate for winter.

Another gentle reminder … to please remember to bring spare clothes for your little one/s (especially on Forest School days), wellies and wetsuits, to ensure that your child can make the most of waterplay and wet weather!
