Hello Parents & Carers,

Wishing you and all your family a lovely winter break, I will be on annual leave from Tuesday 24th December and will be returning back on Thursday 2nd January …

Last week at Oxford Road we had lots of fun playing with the new resources. The children were engrossed in water play and transporting using their new tubes. Some children also wanted to use the secateurs to cut down the last of the mint in the garden bed. The highlight of the session however was their mud kitchen roast. The children got very creative making an array of dishes with potatoes, brussel sprouts and carrots. We even mixed mud with water to make Forest School gravy!

At Norfolk Road the children did lots of activities including gardening and tidying up. The children are really enjoying using their new tools including the rakes and wheelbarrows. We talked about raking the leaves and tidying up outdoors. We practised navigating the wheelbarrow to different places in Forest School and made a nice cosy home for the insects with our pile of leaves and sticks. The toddlers had an indoor session this week due to the high winds on Wednesday morning. They had the opportunity to make clay coasters which they decorated with winter spices, leaves and sticks.

At Harborne Road we had lots of fun also with the preschool children and toddlers. The preschool children created their very own house using sticks and discussed all the different materials they were going to use to decorate it. They also enjoyed exploring their toys including the binoculars, not to mention they went on a mini bear hunt and we looked for bugs and insects under our log seats. The children were using lots of great vocabulary and were able to talk about different colours and textures. The toddlers were practising their climbing and balancing skills as well as mark making with the chalk.

Another gentle reminder … to please remember to bring spare clothes for your little one/s (especially on Forest School days), wellies and wetsuits, to ensure that your child can make the most of waterplay and wet weather!
