Music
Fostering a life-long passion…
Music is taught weekly throughout the entire school by a specialist music teacher. As well as being a source of enjoyment and fun, it helps to improve a range of cognitive abilities such as language, memory and spatial reasoning, and promotes social skills and emotional well-being.
Children may join the Junior Choir in Years 1 and 2, and the Senior Choir in Years 3 to 6. Our Choirs regularly perform at public venues such as churches, retirement homes and concert halls.
The school also has its own orchestra which performs publicly, its members being drawn from Years 3 to 6.
Private instrumental tuition is available from Year 1, delivered by visiting professional tutors. Children learn the piano, violin, flute, recorder, guitar and drums, and take examinations set by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College London.
‘It’s such a welcoming feeling when the Senior Leadership Team stand outside welcoming children and parents in the morning. Just seeing you there is enough to put more spring in one’s step.’
