Enrichment Activities

A letter from Mrs Palmer

Dear Parents,

Thank you to everyone who completed the parent survey.  We were pleased that the responses were overwhelmingly positive.  However, we understand that parents would like more information concerning the children’s learning in each year group.

Please find attached a grid outlining the overarching topics for each subject for next half term.  Each year group has been given a grid of suggested activities that you might enjoy doing with your child over the holidays or at weekends during December, January and February.  None of the activities are compulsory, but exploring some of the ideas presented will enrich your child’s learning, provide them with life experiences which may be used when writing creatively and bring the subject to life.  Most importantly, they will give you ideas for how you could enhance family time during the holidays and spark your child’s imagination.

You will notice that we have been more specific in Geography, History and Science, in particular.  This is because we follow a two year rolling curriculum with set topics.  In some subjects, such as English, Maths and PE, work is planned on a weekly basis, closely following the needs of the children.  Therefore, it is not possible at this time to be more precise about the intended learning.  However, we have been able to suggest areas of learning that children regularly struggle with.

We plan to release the next Enrichment Activities in time for the February Half Term.  These will include the topics we will be covering in the second half of the Spring Term.

I hope you enjoy exploring some of the ideas with your child.  We look forward to seeing their work, or photos of them engaging in different activities during this half term.

Kind regards,

Mrs Palmer
