Today Arman (Year 3) and Ella (Reception) represented the school (Yes, mum really did take their school uniforms!) in Selcuk, Turkey and visited 3 UNESCO heritage sites and one of the ancient wonders of the world. Their first stop was The Temple of Artemis, which was one of the original wonders.  They then visited Ephesus, and explored the ancient Roman city. The photos at Ephesus were taken at the Library of Celsus, it is the most beautiful structure at the site. The statues in the niches of the columns symbolise wisdom, knowledge, intelligence and bravery. Finally they drove 9km up the Bulbul mountain to The House of Virgin Mary, where it is said to be the place Mary spent her last days and is believed to have come with Saint John to spread Christianity. Whilst they were there, they lit a candle and said a little prayer (Mum mostly prayed for the strength to get her through half term). Sadly, no photography was permitted inside.  As well as an alter, there were chalices and prayer beads gifted from different popes.
